1. SAFETY FIRST!
• First, you need to make sure you select a safe location for your fire pit. You want to remain a safe distance from any structures, trees, or low hanging foliage or telephone wires.
2. GATHER THE MATERIALS.
• If you’re going for a paver patio with a fire pit, you will want to decide which paver material you want; brick, concrete, or stone pavers. Taylor Concrete offers high-quality wall stones from PYZIQUE that are perfect for your DIY project. To build a fire pit using PYZIQUE stones, you’ll only need 14 blocks per course (a typical fire pit would be three to five courses high) to make a complete circle with an inside diameter of 32” and a steel fire ring. These stones are lightweight, maintenance-free, and environmentally-safe.
• If you’re building the fire pit in your backyard, you will need to create a stable foundation for the blocks. You will need a paver base and crushed gravel to cover the ground of the base.
• If you’re installing on a paver patio, you’ll need to line the bottom of the fire pit with sand to protect the stones.
3. ADD THE FINISHING TOUCH!
• To finish your DIY fire pit, you may want to add a fire pit cover or bowl. Make sure to choose the right size for the fire pit you’re planning to build – fire pit bowls and insert rings come in standard sizes, so make sure to plan your firepit size accordingly.
