THE PERFECT PATIO FOR YOUR PERSONALITY

It’s no secret that building a patio is a huge investment. That being said, you want to make sure you are going to love it for as long as you live in your home. However, building the perfect patio can be difficult.

There are countless decisions that need to be made about things you probably hadn’t even considered until you started researching your options.

You need to think about everything from the type of stones you’re going to use as the base to the color of the furniture that will furnish your home’s new extension. Thankfully, knowing yourself can make these decisions a little easier.

Some things you might want to ask yourself are:

WHEN WILL I BE USING THIS MOST FREQUENTLY?

If you’re an early riser, you’ll probably begin almost every day sipping your coffee while enjoying the fresh, crisp morning air. For this type of use, you can probably skip the fire pit and instead invest in a fountain or pond to make your morning view all the more tranquilizing.

If you plan on using your patio in the evening then the firepit is a must-have. It will provide warmth and light which will lead to longer nights. Another great addition to a patio that’s optimized for nightlife use is a hot-tub. It’s a feature that can be used almost year-round and is a great stress relief after a long day of work.

DO I PREFER INDOORS OR OUTDOORS?

For those who spend every possible moment of their lives outside, a patio with a more rustic aesthetic will be best. In order to achieve this, you might want to choose more traditional wooden furniture like Adirondack chairs or rockers. Outdoorsmen and women should also consider investing in a pool.

When you don’t have time to pack up your things and get to the nearest lake, you’ll be happy you have swimming as an option to spend your free time in the summertime. Another great addition is a hammock. It’s not quite as exciting as camping, but at least you can still doze off outdoors.

For those of you who would rather chew rusty nails over spending a night outdoors, then you’ll probably want to invest in a roof and possibly a surrounding screen to keep out insects and rodents.

You can also get away with saving on your stone buy getting a less expensive pattern or cut and instead get a rug that’s designed for outdoor use. Your furniture should also be well cushioned for maximum comfort.

WILL I BE USING THIS BY MYSELF/ JUST FAMILY OR WILL I BE HOSTING FREQUENTLY?

A patio is a fantastic addition to your home for both introverts and extroverts alike. However for those of you who just want a quiet place to relax and breath in the fresh, outdoor air. Then you can skip the outdoor bar, however, something you should still definitely look into is a built-in grill and a small outdoor dining set.

For those of you who can’t wait to host parties and gatherings, you’ll undoubtedly impress your guests with an outdoor bar built right into your patio.

As previously stated, a fire pit will also be great in order to extend the life of your parties. For the summertime, a pool is also a feature that will have all your friends calling you up asking about the next to get together.

I’m sure many readers would prefer to have all of the above, however, the reality of the situation means that we have to pick and choose based on the budget and space with which we have to work. Ultimately, it comes down to prioritizing what matters most to you and what features you, yourself, will enjoy the most.
